Siberian Elm Settee

Part of a local, invasive species project. This settee was gifted to the Museum Northern Arizona for their annual auction. Made with traditional tools and techniques. Wider than normal seat for extra pillows and blankets for chilly spring mornings. Wood donated by High Country Slabs.

My goal with this settee was to introduce a new way of looking at Siberian elm, a tree that is impossible to eradicate, and subsequently is now part of our ecosystem here in Northern Arizona. Elm was frequently used by the original makers of chairs for their bottoms (seats).
